A winter walk in Hazel and Thoroughsale Woods
Wrap up warm and put on your boots! Join Rebecca Jenkins and the Corby Woodland project team for a guided walk through the UK's largest and finest Ancient Woodland in an urban setting.
Hazel and Thoroughsale Wood Corby
Tuesday 25th January
10:00 - 12:00
Many people will have driven past these woods along the A427 without realising just how wonderful they are.
They are managed on a daily basis by North Northamptonshire Council's woodland rangers and the Friends of Thoroughsale and Hazel Wood Group, which is made up of over 100 local volunteers committed to protecting and raising the standard of the woodland.
A major achievement has been returning parts of the wood to the original hazel coppice and during the walk we will meet some of the coppicing volunteers and learn what they are doing and why.
Meet at the log cabin by the Boating Lake, Cottingham Road, Corby, where there is free parking available (NN17 2UN)
Distance: approx 6km or 3-4 miles. All pathways are surfaced although some are tertiary footpaths so in January they could be muddy.
