After the storm

 

On 23rd February 2017, northern England and Scotland was hit by a so-called "storm-bomb" - a rapidly deepening depression that sped across the country causing lots of damage. Fineshade was not at the centre of the storm but, even so, there was more damage to the wood than has occurred in recent years.

 

These pictures show some of the scenes in the wood taken during the days following the passage of "Storm Doris".  Although this looks bad, the storm was probably beneficial to the biodiversity of the wood - see the Wildlife Diary to find out why.
